Santa Rosa Plum Jam
From our 15-year-old tree
Add to Cart
When our family moved to Martinez, California, we inherited something we didn't expect: a 15-year-old Santa Rosa plum tree that, every June, explodes with hundreds of incredibly juicy plums.
At first, we didn't know what to do with all that fruit. So we did what families have always done. We made jam. By hand. In small batches. With simple recipes and no additives.
Our daughter Lena and our German Shorthaired Pointers, first River, and now Gunner, count down the days every spring as the mature plum tree wakes back up. Watching that tree finally bear fruit became part of our family rhythm signaling the long hot days of summer were near.
Every jar is made in a batch small enough to count on two hands.

Sun-ripened & sweet
Add to CartThe tree slowly wakes. White blossoms unfurl across the Santa Rosa plum tree, a quiet promise of June.
We drive out to nearby Brentwood to hand-pick Coral and Lapin cherries, basket by basket, at the very peak of ripeness.
Our tree produces approximately 400 plums each year, if not more, and they all ripen at once. Lena and Gunner count the days. The kitchen begins to smell of warm sugar and stone fruit.
We label the last jars by hand and get them ready to share with friends, family, and our community.
